HOW I WORK
Location: My practice is based in North Wiltshire, and there are two places where I see clients. On first contact we can discuss which location is most convenient for you.
First meeting: I will offer you an assessment interview so that we can meet and discuss what you are looking for in counselling, and each of us can decide whether we can work together. It is important that you find the right counsellor for you and someone with whom you feel you could form a positive working relationship. If I feel that I would not be able to help you I would endeavour to refer you to another counsellor.
Weekly sessions: If we decide to work together we will meet for an hour each week, normally on the same day and at the same time. We will agree on a certain number of sessions when you start counselling.
How many? There is no minimum or maximum limit on the number of sessions as this varies from one person to another and is difficult to predict beforehand. Some issues take much longer to resolve than others; on the other hand some people find that just a few counselling sessions are all that they need.
Review: Once counselling has started, after a few weeks we will review our work together and come to a mutual decision about whether to continue on or to end the counselling. I will expect you to attend regular weekly sessions, and if you repeatedly cancel or miss sessions I may decide to terminate the contract between us.
Fees: For the assessment interview my fee is £25. If you wish to book a first session, another £25 is payable to secure the appointment. My normal fees are £50 per session, payable at least one week in advance. I do have some sessions at reduced rates for people on benefits or a very low income. Fees can be paid weekly at each session or you may wish to pay for several sessions in advance. Cancelled or missed sessions must also be paid for unless you have given me a minimum of 24 hours’ notice.
Times: I work on Friday mornings and Tuesday afternoon/early evening.
