Supervision: I have regular supervision to review and reflect on my work with you. Supervision can be seen as a form of quality control, and is a way of ensuring that therapeutic standards are maintained. All matters discussed in supervision remain confidential and your identity is protected at all times.
Confidentiality: I treat all information clients share as confidential and do not disclose your details to any third party without your permission. However, if I become concerned that you may be at risk of harming yourself or others, I may need to inform appropriate agencies. Confidentiality can only be offered within accepted legal boundaries. It is my practice wherever possible to discuss this with you first should it become necessary for confidentiality to be breached.
Notes and Record-keeping: I will keep records of your basic details while I am working with you, and I will keep these for three years after counselling has ended, in line with data protection regulations. I will also keep brief notes of our work together which you are entitled to see at any time if you so wish. These records are kept in paper form only and are kept securely where they cannot be accessed by anyone else. After three years all notes and records are securely destroyed.
